Traxxas Corvette 4-Tec 3.0 Full Review. Everything You Need To Know.

The Traxxas Corvette Stingray 4-Tec 3.0 is a new RC car from Traxxas built with a great design, performance, and the slightest details of the real Stingray C8.

Actually, it’s a new update of the previous generation 4-Tec 2.0 that was implemented in the Mustang GT we reviewed before!

Even if this 4-Tec 2.0 motor now may look outdated, it is still one of the best motors in Traxxas RC cars, especially in the 4-Tec series!

So, what is the new updated thing in this new motor? Is the Traxxas Corvette really worth your money?

Well, this is what you’re about to know in this review! Let’s get started in the next few lines…

The Design

Traxxas Corvette Body

Everybody knows that the Traxxas Corvette Stingray C8 has a great design and stunned everybody when it came out. But, I still didn’t expect all this to appear!

The design of this RC car is perfect. It’s perfect that you can’t tell if it’s the real one or the RC version from the photos!

Really! Traxxas has covered every single detail of this car including the front and the rear bumpers, the wheels, the headlights, the red lights, the spoiler as well as the exhausts!

Also, if you notice, there are no body clips on this RC car. These clips make the design bad sometimes. But the company has invented a new solution.

They added the clips to the bottom of the Corvette body, and with one push, you can separate the body from the chassis, and you can put it back easily. It’s easy and quick!

The Front

As mentioned before, the amount of details in this RC car is massive and incredible!

When it comes to the front, you’ll see the edgy front end looking like a rocket, which is something that makes this RC car special!

As the real one, the Traxxas Corvette comes with a bumper divided by 3, they’re all air intakes…

Well, they’re supposed to be like the real one, but they don’t need them here since there is no motor that needs air for cooling.

Also, a great detail to mention is the small front splitter to help more with the aerodynamics since this is a race RC car. Isn’t that a great detail?

Passing to the headlights which are so important in this review since they gave the Traxxas Corvette the identity of a Corvette!

And let me tell you! No matter how you look at these headlights in the images, you’ll never be able to imagine them in real life! These things are well done!

They don’t work tough! However, you can always light them up by getting the aftermarket light kit from amazon, check them out.

Don’t worry, you don’t need to be the techy guy to put them in the car. All you have to do is to follow exactly what RC Driver did in this video.

In addition to that, the hood doesn’t come with any clips since the body is clipless, it looks clean.

The Middle and the Rear

Traxxas Corvette Stingray 4-Tec 3.0 Full Review. Everything You Need To Know.

Concerning the windows, they’re not real, unfortunately, they’re made from black plastic unlike some other Traxxas RC cars like the Bronco which has transparent windows and a realistic interior.

But here is the surprise, if you’re a fan of the real corvette, then, you know that it is convertible, in fact, you can remove the roof manually.

For Traxxas Corvette, it’s not that case, it’s not convertible and you can’t remove the roof. However, if you see closer, you’ll notice that there are traces of the convertible roof! These are the details I’m talking about!

This is not everything on the sides! See? In the real corvette, there are those big air intakes on each side to cool the motor that is supposed to be in the middle.

The same design is in the Traxxas Corvette despite they’re fake because it doesn’t need them. Still, they look crazy!

Right after that, you can find the rear window that is not a normal rear window! Because what’s inside is the motor.

Unlike the other windows on the front and sides, the rear window is transparent and you can see the motor inside. Of course, this motor is fake because the real motor is connected to the chassis.

Still, the details and the colors will give you a great feeling about the power of the Traxxas Corvette.

In the rear end, there is a small spoiler, it is opened from the sides and closed in the middle.

You can see that there is a reason for that which is to make the airflow go easier with the body sides and get out from the spoiler.

The taillights are no less attractive just like the headlights. The details are incredible!

You should see those because no matter what I write or say, you won’t be able to imagine that design.

Also, in the rear, there are those air outtakes under each taillight.

Additionally, we can’t mention the exhaust design with two silver exhaust pipes on each side. It’s just perfect!

Traxxas Corvette Body Colors

The Traxxas Corvette body comes in 4 colors, Red, Blue, white and Black. They’re all attractive and great looking!

There is also the previous Corvette model body which is offered in different colors like Blue, Red, and Grey.

So, which color do you like the most? Share with us your opinion in the comments below!

The Traxxas Corvette chassis

What is the difference between the 4-Tec 3.0 and 2.0 chassis?

Traxxas 4-Tec 3.0

If you see the 4-Tec 3.0 and 2.0 chassis, you won’t be able to notice the difference except for the length and the wheels. Other than that, no!

Generally, the Traxxas Corvette chassis is the same as the previous generation 4-Tec 2.0, but there are some slight changes.

The length of this Stingray has increased in comparison to the length of the Traxxas Mustang. Moreover, some of the biggest changes you’ll notice are the shape of the wheels! (Check the next section).

The Front

The front bumper is one of the few changes in the Traxxas Corvette chassis.

We can say that this is a double bumper since there is the front splitter first, then, there is the bumper responsible for the protection against crashes.

This chassis is made to fit with the body of the Traxxas Corvette.

This is why you’ll notice that it has also that edgy shape which is something special for the Corvette in addition to the chassis length.

This splitter is so important for design purposes first, then for the aerodynamics (which is not that much needed honestly), especially since this chassis is so low.

Other than that, all the front suspension system is the same as the 4-Tec 2.0. They come with oil-filled shocks with suspension arms and all the stuff that any Traxxas RC car suspension system has.

How does it work? Perfectly fine! No complaints!

Since this is a supercar, the body mount isn’t as high as we’re used to seeing in some Traxxas RC trucks. Also, they don’t have those clip hooks where the body is supposed to stick to since this RC car is clipless.

It’s simple and easy to modify as well.

The Middle and the Rear

If you look at the middle of the 4-Tec 3.0 chassis, you’ll conclude that this is the same chassis as the 4-Tec 2.0, what’s different are some internal parts that we will walk through in detail in the performance section.

The chassis is well organized, you can clearly see and recognize every single part. This makes it easy to modify especially for you if you’re a beginner.

Some of the few changes that the 4-Tec 3.0 chassis came with are the metal central driveshaft that was made of Aluminum in the previous version.

Also, due to the long wheelbase, the battery case has also got longer with the possibility to adjust it to fit your battery.

When it comes to the rear, it does come also with the same suspension system as the previous version in addition to a body mount.

This body mount is not made for the body, in fact, there is another one made especially for the body’s internal clip.

Traxxas Corvette Wheels

The wheels of the Stingray are sporty with the same size for all 4 wheels. However, Mustang has more drifting wheels in the rear and smaller ones in the front.

That’s why Traxxas Mustang has been a great and easy RC car for drifting!

The same thing goes for Traxxas Corvette, the rear wheels are also wider than the front ones. However, they’re hard to notice.

But, in my opinion, Traxxas Corvette is made for racing more than drifting while the mustang is a great drifting RC car.

The Traxxas Corvette Stingray Performance

If you’re familiar with the 4-Tec 2.0 motor and previous super RC cars, then, you already know their performance and handling. They’re great RC cars despite having brushed motors.

But here is the surprise, even though you have a brushed motor in your stock RC car, you can upgrade the Traxxas Corvette to brushless.

How? You have nothing to add, just a brushless motor, this beast is already ready for that!

Now, we have the new Traxxas 4-Tec 3.0 which is better than the previous one. This means that you’ll have more performance and better handling especially after changing the chassis’s dimensions.

How Fast is Traxxas Corvette?

Traxxas Corvette car reaches up to 30+ mph using a Powerful Titan 12T 550 modified motor with internal cooling fan, a High-Performance Waterproof XL-5 Electronic Speed Control as well as the optional pinion gear with a 2s Lipo battery.

The ESC is still the same with its different driving modes like the Sport mode, race mode, and training mode. You can control all these modes, and enable or disable them from the ESC itself.

Most of the electronics are the same including the motor. Still, there are some small changes like the central driveshaft that we mentioned earlier, it is now made of steel instead of Aluminum.

Of course, this RC car hasn’t reached this performance level just using the motor and ESC, there are so many other internal parts that contributed to creating these RC beats! Here they are:

Traxxas Corvette Transmitter and Receiver

No matter how powerful the RC car is, if there is no transmitter and receiver, you won’t be able to control it properly, these two are essential in order for an RC car to function. And the Corvette is no exception!

The Traxxas 4-Tec 3.0 comes with a TQ 2.4GHz transmitter and a 3-channel micro receiver which are the basic Traxxas Radio controllers.

They work perfectly fine and you’ll have no problem dealing with this transmitter.

But honestly, for such an RC car, I would expect more!

Unfortunately, the transmitter doesn’t come with any option other than the steering angle which is something that you don’t need and you don’t do for fun!

It’s not like the TSM which Traxxas Stability management that helps you maintain the same direction or the self-righting system.

So, if you’re the type of driver that love the systems, you’ll be disappointed!

Other than that, the transmitter and the receiver work perfectly fine.

Traxxas 4-Tec 3.0

Other than the performance, I love everything else that comes with it including the detailed design, the chassis, and the technology.

They’re giving a great impression and more fun to the car as well as a more enjoyable night drive. (Check the video above in the chassis section about the headlights fixing tutorial done by RC Driver)

The other thing I love about the upgraded Traxxas 4-Tec 3.0 version, is the car’s handling even at high speeds. The great thing is that it is so hard to get flipped to the side because of its wide body, and this is something I love about it too!

Additionally, this RC car cares about small details, if you check the motor in the rear window, you’ll love it. Also, if you check the wheels, you’ll see the brakes, they’re not real, however, they’re great details!
