Why do we have to compare Traxxas Bigfoot VS Stampede? Well, those two RC cars might seem similar at first glance. But guess what? They have a lot of differences that may consider while choosing which one to buy!

If you’re a fan of big trucks with big wheels like Traxxas Stampede and Traxxas Bigfoot. You’re maybe considering buying one of them for yourself or for your child!

But, what’s the difference between those two RC cars? Is it just the size? Especially that their prices are so close!

Well, the answer of course is no! There are a lot of similarities and differences at the same time. And they’re the ones that will help you decide which one to bring back home with you!

Traxxas Bigfoot VS Stampede Design

The Body

The first thing you may notice is that the bodies of these 2 RC cars have the same size. This is something that I didn’t expect.

I thought the Bigfoot is bigger in the images, but in reality, Traxxas Stampede has the same size as the Bigfoot!

However, when it comes to the length and the wideness of the body, Traxxas Bigfoot has the upper hand. With these additional millimeters, the shocks will have more coverage.

Other than the size, the design of each one of these cars is one of the most noticeable things you can see. In fact, they’re even opposites.

With Traxxas Bigfoot having a traditional ancient design, and Traxxas Stampede having a modern design!

They have both high-resolution stickers. But, they look more real on the Bigfoot because of the chrome grille and the headlights!

Unfortunately, neither of the vehicles has real headlights. But you can always add them as aftermarket parts. They look cool!

Also,

Both bodies have normal clips, but due to their height on the chassis, you can always keep a look at your internal parts without really a need to open the body every time. Well, it’s a great idea from Traxxas.

What I love also about Traxxas Bigfoot are the small details that present the nostalgia of some parts that are no more produced or that have become so rare! These parts are not included in the Stampede!

In addition to that, there is a major difference in the shape of the body. Actually, we can say that Traxxas Stampede’s body is more aerodynamics-friendly because of the curves.

On the other hand, Traxxas Bigfoot has an edgy body. Honestly, it does look so aggressive!

When it comes to the Traxxas Bigfoot VS Stampede chassis, they have the same platform! However, some differences start to emerge depending on the version of the chassis! Let me explain…

Traxxas Bigfoot comes with one version. Which is the 2WD version using the same 2WD Stampede chassis.

On the other hand, when it comes to Traxxas Stampede, it comes with different versions.

Here they are:

2WD Brushed Version
Brushless 2WD VXL
4×4 Version

4×4 VXL

With these versions, the chassis keeps the same platform. Which is the one of the Slash. However, the 2WD version Stampede and 4WD version have different chassis including the placement of the parts.

For example, in the 2WD version, both Traxxas Stampede and Bigfoot have the motor in the back end. And this is something unique for the Stampede Chassis!

However, when it comes to the 4×4 version of the Stampede, it takes the same structure as the other Traxxas RC cars like the Slash 4×4 and Traxxas Hoss.

Now, you’re more confused about which one to pick? Well, don’t worry!

There is a good reason for having a variety of choices. And this is something good for Traxxas Stampede because you can choose whatever version you want. First, it’s the freedom to choose, and second, it’s money-saving!

Unfortunately, this is not available for Traxxas Bigfoot!

But you know what?

In order to compare, we will take one version of the Stampede which is the 2WD. And this is because the bigfoot is also a 2WD RC truck, and to make a fair comparison.

Traxxas Bigfoot VS Stampede 2WD Chassis

Since Traxxas Bigfoot and Stampede have the same platform and the same chassis. They have also the same height and the same width.

This height makes it so easier for both cars to climb anything and everything!

The internal components are also the same including the motor, the ESC as well as the servo.

Despite having the same platform, they still have some differences.

And the first difference you will notice is the wheels. The wheels of Traxxas Bigfoot are wider than Traxxas Stampede.

So, because of the bigger body that we mentioned in the body comparison section, as well as the wide wheels. Traxxas Bigfoot looks bigger than Stampede!

But in terms of dimensions, they’re almost the same!

So, up to this point, which one to choose?

Well, since you have the same chassis, you can choose what you prefer using the body metrics as well as the wheels. Otherwise, you can choose another version of the Stampede.

For a fair comparison, we will take the 2WD version of each RC car.

When it comes to Traxxas Stampede VS Bigfoot performance, they’re almost the same.

For Traxxas Bigfoot, it comes with a Titan 12T 550 modified motor and an XL-5 Electronic Speed Control.

This ESC comes with 3 driving modes which are:

Sport Mode – Forward / Brake / Reverse
Race Mode – Forward / Brake
Training Mode™ – 50% Forward / Brake / 50% Reverse (patented)

These modes are available at any Traxxas RC car. In fact, there are modes that you can find in other RC cars like the TRX4 group (Bronco, TRX4 Sport…).

By adding a 4-7cell NiMH to these parts, you can drive out of the box right away. But for more fun, you have to add a 2s Lipo battery. And believe me, you’ll see another beast!

In fact, you can reach up to +30mph with both cars.

Unfortunately, there are no systems in place like the TSM and the self-righting system as well as just a basic Traxxas controller.

All these parts and accessories remain the same for Traxxas Stampede 2WD. However, for the other versions, the situation is different a little bit with more power and systems.

4×4 Stampede Brushless

Here are some characteristics about each version of the Stampede:

2WD VXL Version:

It comes with a Velineon^® 3500 Brushless Motor and a Velineon^® VXL-3s ESC with 3 modes as well.

Adding a 2 or 3s Lipo battery to these components will make your Stampede go up to +65mph!

This is crazy! It comes also with the TSM system that makes your RC car able to correct its direction to avoid losing control.

Stampede 4×4 Brushed:

Traxxas Stampede 4×4 comes with a powerful Titan 12T 550 modified motor and an XL-5 Electronic Speed Control.

This RC car can reach up to +30 mph also with a 2s Lipo battery.

And unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a TSM. That means that it doesn’t have many advantages over the normal 2WD!

Stampede 4×4 VXL (Brushless):

This is the most powerful version you can have in Traxxas Stampede. This RC car has a lot of advantages over the other version.

First, it comes with a Velineon^® 3500 Brushless Motor and a Velineon^® VXL-3s ESC. This RC car can reach up to +60mph by adding a 2s – 3s Lipo battery!

Besides, there are a lot of additional parts that make the car harder like some aluminum parts. And they increase its performance.

That means that in the Traxxas Stampede, you don’t have the speed only, but also, the handling and the stability.

Wait! There is still more! This Stampede has also some high-tech systems. These systems are the TSM (that we just explained) and the self-righting system!

The self-righting system helps your RC car flip on its wheels after being flipped on the back far from you. So, all you have to do is to click a button so that your RC car starts moving back and forth and flip on the wheels again.

It’s a time and energy-saving feature!

With all these versions and variations, you can have multiple options to choose from!

However, there is something that the Stampede doesn’t have. It’s the legacy of the Bigfoot!

If you’re a fan of Traxxas Bigfoot, no matter what the Stampede offers, you’ll still love the Bigfoot! And this is what it means to be a fan.

Concerning the upgrades, these 2 RC cars are the best ones to have for such a pleasure.

Since they’re based on the Slash platform, their parts are so available, and they have almost the same. (Talking about the 2WD version).

For Traxxas Bigfoot, there are a lot of upgrades specialized for this RC car like the bodies.

You can also upgrade anything starting from the wheels, the servos, as well as upgrading to the aluminum parts!

Or, if you want to increase speed, you can change the gears with bigger or smaller ones. (Depending on the type of gear: Spur or pinion gear).

You can add as well a lot of accessories like the headlights to make your RC car look cooler and more aggressive.

The price

What about the price of Traxxas Stampede VS Bigfoot? Concerning the 2WD version of the Stampede and the bigfoot, there isn’t much difference between them.

However, with Traxxas Stampede, the better the version, the higher the price!
