Best Traxxas Hoss Review. A Great RC Car That You Should Have!

Traxxas Hoss 4×4 VXL was one and still one of the best Traxxas RC cars because of different factors! The first factor that everybody is noticing from the first view is the look!

What about the chassis, the performance, the handling? These are all strong and crucial factors to determine the fate of this RC car.

The other thing is…

Traxxas is well known for its super-powerful monster trucks like the Traxxas Stampede, and Maxx. Those two monster trucks got a lot of popularity from RC cars fans and loved how powerful and reliable they are.

But a lot of people have been asking “Are we really in need of Traxxas Hoss, we have the Stampede and the Maxx“.

Well, this is something I would like to give you an answer about in this Traxxas Hoss Review.

Traxxas Hoss Review: The Design

Traxxas Hoss 4x4 VXL Review

The design of the Traxxas Hoss 4×4 is so amazing and aggressive because it has a similar look to the Maxx. The wheels also give the car a more powerful look and seem unstoppable.

This Monster also comes in two different colors: A mix of orange and purple, and another version with a mix of green and blue. And the body comes with an internal cage to add more reinforcements to the vehicle as well as to keep the body look fresh.

Bumpers

The bumpers of the Traxxas Hoss 4×4 VXL don’t only look amazing, but they’re also powerful and are there to protect the RC car against impacts and crashes.

The two bumpers are different, the front bumper is there to protect the vehicle. On the other hand, the rear bumper is equipped with two small wheels to prevent the Hoss from Back flipping when launching in full throttle.

Wheels

The Traxxas Hoss comes with 2.8″ black chrome wheels rounded by large 5.3″ Sledgehammer tires. This combination is perfect for adding more resistance and fraction for a better launch.

Those tires are able to handle the sand, the mud, and the snow, and support the RC car to give its full power to make your experience funnier and more enjoyable!

Traxxas Hoss 4×4 VXL Performance

As its powerful look, the Traxxas Hoss 4×4 VXL is a monster when it comes to off-road, and can show its superpower on any surface due to the strong and high-quality components from Traxxas.

Chassis

The Hoss’s body looks like the Maxx‘s, but the chassis looks like a Rustler 4×4 in terms of components and design.

Not only do they look good but what amazed me is how easy it is to access and change the internal parts in less than a minute due to the bulkheads that can be removed quickly and easily with just a few screws. Adjustments are easier now!

The arms

In our previous article about the best 5 upgrades that you can make for your Traxxas Slash (You can check it here), we talked about the low-quality arms as important parts to be upgraded for the Slash because of their placement in this RC car (Traxxas Slash). Which is essential and has to handle a lot of impacts.

But when I checked the Traxxas Hoss, what I found was different than the Slash!

The arms were so powerful and built-in good material. So, you don’t need to upgrade and spend more money than you already spent on buying this car. Traxxas has set up everything for you from the beginning!

Those arms can resist and handle in all circumstances even in cold weather and under the pressure of hard drivers. (If you’re one of them, I bet you’re happy right now after reading this)!

Shocks

The shocks of the Traxxas Hoss are great at handling and are so reliable due to the oil and to their X-Ring Technology.

These two factors make the Hoss able to resist the most dangerous jumps and the high off-roading pressure. And allow the car to be smoother to sustain its main performance.

Motor

I know that this is the coolest part of this review. Everybody wants to know how powerful this Traxxas is. Let me show you!

The Traxxas Hoss comes with a Velinion 540XL 2400 kV Motor that can make it reach up to +60 mph. Which’s more than 90 km/h.

This speed equals the speed of the Traxxas Maxx and outperforms the Traxxas Stampede than can reach just +30 mp. Which is just 50 km/h.

Imagine if you had a race with your Traxxas Hoss vs your friend’s Stampede. You’ll destroy him forever! Isn’t that insane?

The coolest thing about this motor is that it can handle ultra-high temperature using its Neodymium magnets. It is equipped as well with high-speed bearings that are responsible for the insane speed of this vehicle!

Besides, the 4-pool balanced rotor delivers smooth running and long life.

Alongside the motor, there is the waterproof Velineon VXL-3s speed control with the latest technology to deliver maximum power equipped with a fan to keep it cold.

The Receiver Box And The Channel Receiver

As a Traxxas fan and player, I love using my RC Cars in the water because I enjoy doing it. The great thing is that almost all Traxxas RC cars are provided with a waterproof receiver box.

Therefore, Traxxas has installed the receiver box in the front to save weight and to give a better look to the chassis.

On the other hand, the Hoss is provided also with a TQi 2.4 GHz receiver.

This receiver has a high technology that allows it to transmit real-time data from your Traxxas model to the TQi Transmitter within your hands.

Concerning the battery, the best battery for the Traxxas Hoss is the 3-cell Lipo battery. And you can add it easily near the motor.

What I like about the Traxxas Hoss

So far, all I covered was something that I was amazed at. And to be honest, I like this RC car as much as I do for the Traxxas Maxx because I see no big difference.

What I like about it and what I expect you’ll like also is the fact that the Hoss is an RTR RC car (Ready-To-Run/Race).

Now…

The question is: which one of the three Traxxas RC Cars should you buy? The Maxx, Stampede, or the Hoss?

Well, these RC Cars are quite similar in so many things but are also different when it comes to other metrics. And, you should know these metrics so that you can make a wise decision and choose the best one for you.

I listed all these metrics in our previous article about the 10 things you should know before buying any Traxxas RC car.
