Traxxas Bandit Brushless Upgrade

Owning a Traxxas Bandit means that you’re having one of 2 versions: the 2WD version, and the VXL version!

So, if you have the VXL version, then, you can move to the next upgrade on the list because you already have the brushless motor.

For those who don’t have the VXL version. You should know that adding a brushless motor is one of the best Traxxas Bandit upgrades you can have. Why?

Because this will add enormous power to your vehicle and you can go with high speeds. That’s what makes an RC car amazing.

However, you should be careful, because adding a brushless motor can affect negatively some other parts.

This doesn’t mean that the 2WD version isn’t ready for brushless upgrades. It’s always ready.

But, to make sure everything is working smoothly, you better upgrade other parts that can handle the brushless motor well. Also, these measures are to avoid unnecessary problems and losses.

The Spur Gear

Changing the brushless motor in your Traxxas Bandit means that you’ll change the pinion gear which is related to the motor.

In order to transfer the power from the motor to the rest of the wheels. The pinion gear has to be in touch with the spur gear. Which is the geat related to the central driveshaft!

Now, the stock spur gear might work with the new brushless motor. However, it may not work perfectly as expected, or you may encounter some problems in your RC car.

This is why it is better to upgrade to another piece that is guaranteed to work smoothly with the motor. Isn’t that logical?

Also, changing this gear will give you much more power and speed to your Bandit. This way, you’ll hit two birds with one stone.

So, the best gear I’ve found is the 86t Spur gear from Traxxas. You can have it from Amazon by clicking this link:

Traxxas Bandit Tires Upgrades

One of the things that I don’t like a lot about Traxxas Bandit is how tiny the wheels are. Indeed, there is no problem with their functioning when the car is still in the stock version.

However, once you upgrade it to go with more speed, you should start thinking about some Traxxas Bandit Tires Upgrades!

The problem with those tiers is the fact that they’re too tiny for high speeds. In fact, they can come off, make your car lose balance, and crash!

The best solution is to upgrade those tires to a better version. This better version is the Stampede tires!

And believe me, they fit perfectly!

Other than the super great look they will give to your RC car, there is another feature that your car can’t do with the stock tires, but it becomes capable of it after this upgrade.

It’s driving in the grass. Literally, with these new tires, nothing can’t stop your RC car from thriving!

OR, you can go for the Traxxas Bandit aftermarket tires. They’re tiny as well, but with better quality. And honestly, I doubt they can make it in the grass.

Well, you choose at the end. Click the buttons below to discover the price of each one.

The Wheel Hubs

Since you’ve changed the wheels and got new ones with different sizes and strengths. The original hubs won’t last that much!

Now you need something more powerful to handle the pressure coming from the wheels, as well as to fix them perfectly.

And the best solution for you is the wheels hubs. Not the plastic ones, but the Aluminum ones!

After having these, you don’t need to worry about your wheels popping off anymore. Just start bashing!!

The Shock Towers: Important Traxxas Bandit VXL Upgrades

So far, we’ve been just talking about the upgrades that would improve the power of the Traxxas Bandit. What about the parts that would protect it?

We all know that most Traxxas RC cars come with plastic parts as stock parts. And this isn’t enough to protect an RC car, especially that you upgraded it with such powerful parts like the brushless motor and the spur gear.

And, you have to know that crushing your Bandit while using the brushless motor and the spur gear can really destroy your car to pieces.

This is why, for me, a good start can be with upgrading the shock towers. Why?

Simply, because the structure of the Bandit makes the shock towers more threatened to get the crash. In other words, they’re exposed to everything!

So, upgrading with aluminum shock towers will give you protection 10 times stronger than the plastic ones.

You can change the front ones and the rear ones as well. And they come standard on the 2WD version as well as the VXL version.

The Shocks

Traxxas Bandit Upgrades That You Should Add Right Now

Other than upgrading the shock towers of the Traxxas Bandit, you should upgrade the shocks as well.

  • First, because they’ll be protected because of the Aluminum.
  • And they will give your RC car a great look.

They’re also oil-filled shocks, which means that they’ll give you the best driving experience on and off-road! And you don’t need to worry about the high jumps that you can make any more!

The Battery: One of the Easiest Traxxas Bandit VXL Upgrades

How can I forget the batteries? These are the best, the easiest, and the most efficient not only for Traxxas Bandit VXL Upgrades but for all Traxxas RC cars upgrades!

As a Traxxas Bandit owner, you have two options. You have the 2s Lipo battery option and 3s option.

They both work great. In fact, the 3s can make your Bandit a lot faster that can reach up to 45mph with the brushless motor!

But, you should know that the 3s Lipo can’t work with a modified motor, you should have a brushless one!

Here are the best batteries you can get:

The Servo

The Servo is responsible for turning the wheels to the left or the right by taking the commands from the controller, and transmitting them to physical and mechanical movements!

Now, after upgrading to the brushless motor, changing the Spur Gear, upgrading the battery. Do you think that the servo can handle this huge power and turn the wheels at this high speed?

Personally, I doubt it! I don’t think it can do that!

As a result, you won’t be able to control your Bandit freely because the other parts are faster than the servo itself.

So the best thing to do is to upgrade your servo to match the other parts’ power.

And by the way, the 3s Lipo works only with the brushless motor!

The Wheelie Bar: The Most Useful Traxxas Bandit Upgrades

For this upgrade, if you have the Traxxas Bandit VXL, you don’t need this upgrade because you already have it!

And I’m sure that if you have, you’ve seen how useful it is for preventing your RC car from flipping on its back because of the high acceleration!

The same thing goes for the Bandit 2WD. If you’ve already upgraded the battery, the motor, and the gears. You’ll have trouble when going full-throttle. Because every time you do it, your Bandit will flip on it back!

So the wheelie bar is the best and the only solution to overcome this problem. It’s one of the best and most useful Traxxas Bandit upgrades you can have!

The Front and The Rear Axles

The axles are the parts responsible for transferring the power from the central driveshaft to the 4 wheels. And each wheel has its own axle.

These axles are so close to the ground and can be broken easily because of a crash or a fall resulting from a wrong high jump.

The Rear axles are different from the front axles. And, the great news is that you don’t need to search for them by yourself. I’ll show you everything.

Here are the compatible Traxxas Bandit front and rear axles. Check their prices by clicking the buttons below:
