Traxxas E-Revo vs X-Maxx Design Comparison

The Body

If you know how both RC cars look. Then, you should know that their design differences are more than their similarities. Isn’t it?

The first thing you would notice at first glance is their size! The X-Maxx is bigger and higher than the E-Revo. On the other hand, Traxxas E-Revo is wider and closer to the ground.

Also, The shape of the body of these 2 RC cars is completely different. The X-Maxx has the monster truck body with some fake big headlights and high bumpers in the front as well as in the rear.

For the E-Revo, its body is close to a sport RC car than a truck. The spoiler popping in the rear of the car gives it also a sportier look.

Now, the choice depends on you. If you like the sport looking at RC cars. Then, The E-Revo is the best for you.

On the other side, if you love the high trucks with super big wheels. Then, Traxxas X-Maxx is the one!

For me, Traxxas E-Revo is a great fit. What about you?

The Chassis

Traxxas E-Revo vs X-Maxx. Which Monster Is Better For You?

A closer chassis to the ground means more stability in high speed and around corners. Oppositely, a higher chassis means the ability to overcome obstacles easily.

Also, you can have high jumps without worrying about the chassis touching the ground.

However, these characteristics have also some bad things:

For the X-Maxx:

  • The big body of the X-Maxx makes it harder for the driver to control it, especially when jumping. the X-Maxx is most likely to lose balance in the jump.
  • Getting around corners at high speed can make you lose balance as well because of the car’s high chassis.

For the E-Revo

  • You’ll have a great time jumping higher without losing the balance of your RC car because of its wide body. However, due to its low-to-the-ground chassis, you risk having a crash each time you land!

What about the Advantages?

For the X-Maxx:

  • The high body of this RC car is one of the best features of the Traxxas X-Maxx. You can overcome any obstacle on the track, and you don’t have to worry about any damage!

For the E-Revo:

  • The wide-body and tires of the E-Revo allow you to go at full speed without worrying about losing balance!
  • Another feature is how stable the car is at corners. This is something that the X-Maxx can’t do!
  • You will enjoy high jumps. But the landing depends on your skills to avoid cracking your RC car.

Now, choosing your Traxxas RC car depends on the design you want as well as the type of terrain you want to go on, or what is available near you. Also, what you enjoy the most is the most important factor for choosing the best.

E-Revo vs X-Maxx Performance Comparison

We all know that these 2 RC cars are beasts when it comes to performance. But let me surprise you more:

The Internal Parts

Traxxas E-Revo comes with a Velineon® 2200kV Brushless Motor and VXL-6s Waterproof Electronic Speed Control. By adding the 6s Lipo battery to these parts, you’ll have a 70mph monster truck! It’s crazy!

Another great thing is that it comes with two battery holders. which means that you can add two 3s Lipo batteries on each side. Or, just one 6s Lipo battery can do the work.

Concerning the Traxxas X-Maxx, it does come with a Velineon 1200XL Motor that is also brushless. And a VXL-8s Waterproof Electronic Speed Control.

Add an 8s Lipo battery to this RC beast and you’ll reach 50mph at a top speed.

The surprising thing is that it does also comes with two battery holders. So you can add two 4s Lipo batteries on each.

If you notice, when it comes to numbers, Traxxas X-Maxx has definitely the upper hand. But in terms of speed, Traxxas E-Revo is clearly the winner.

But why the X-Maxx is slower?

There are a lot of factors that determine this like the weight, and the aerodynamics as well as other factors.

Well, this is what you can expect from two monsters with different purposes. One is purely for Off-roads, and the other is for the speed and jumps.

Also, the E-Revo has a difference not only from the X-Maxx but on all Traxxas RC cars (Except Traxxas Summit), which are the shocks. The shocks are horizontal instead of being vertical!

And I think the reason behind doing that is to keep the chassis low to the ground without decreasing the quality of the suspension.

Because the chassis can’t be closer to the ground with two vertical shocks standing there! And you can’t make the shocks smaller because that will impact badly the suspension.

So the perfect solution is to put the shocks horizontally. It’s engineering!

Tires

Other than the different internal parts of the E-Revo and the X-Maxx. The tires of the Traxxas E-Revo vs X-Maxx are also different!

If you see the images, you’ll notice the big difference in the tires of both cars. Traxxas X-Maxx’s tires are so huge.

Despite being just stock balloon tires, you can still rely on them off-road. But, if you’re willing to do a drag race, they will be your car’s biggest struggle. That is because of the unbalance resulting from the ballooning of the tires.

What you have to do instead, is to put upgradable tires that don’t balloon. And you’ll see your stability goes through the roof.

Concerning Traxxas E-Revo, its tires are smaller than the X-Maxx. But, they’re pretty big for the size of the vehicle’s body.

They’re also stock balloon tires. But what keeps them incapable of causing an unbalance to the E-Revo? The wide-body!

In the end, the tires of the Traxxas E-Revo vs X-Maxx still have a great quality. And even if you don’t like them, you can replace them with just a few clicks.

Features And Systems

Other than power and performance, both RCs X-Maxx and E-Revo have a lot of high-tech systems that help you drive better and easier.

The first one is the TSM (Traxxas Stability Management System): This system helps your car keep the same direction by turning the wheels against the direction of the car. It’s like turning the wheels when drifting.

The self-Righting: When your car loses balance and flips on itself. It’s so annoying to chase it to flip it back. But with the self-righting system, you don’t need to do that anymore.

Your RC car can flip back on itself by clicking a button on the controller.

And by the way, both RC cars have the same controller with the same capabilities!

Traxxas E-Revo vs X-Maxx Upgrading Comparison

When it comes to upgrades, the parts of both the E-Revo and the X-Maxx are different since their dimensions are different as well.

This doesn’t mean that they’re rare. You can upgrade everything about your Traxxas X-Maxx as well as your E-Revo as much as you want.

You can check my detailed article about the best 10 upgrades you can have for your Traxxas X-Maxx! They’re worth it.

But, if you’re a beginner and considering buying one of these RC cars, you don’t need to upgrade them until you see how they work. Or if you break something of course.
