Traxxas Bandit VXL Review! Is It The Strongest Cheapest Supercar?

If you know Traxxas RC Cars, you’ll see that most of them have pretty the same look with slight differences in the details and the size like the Maxx, Stampede, and the Hoss. But there is another RC car that is different in shape, power, and design. It’s the Traxxas Bandit VXL!

Is it a special RC car? Who would you choose? Is it worth buying?

Let’s discover in the next few lines…

Traxxas Bandit Design

Traxxas Bandit VXL Review! Is it the strongest cheapest supercar?

When I first saw the Bandit, the first thing I reminded of was the Traxxas Rustler. I know there is a little difference in the look, but what I saw was the aggressiveness similarity.

The Traxxas Bandit looks so aggressive and fast and this what I like most about this RC car. Its 1/10 scale body allows it to be sporty and helps it go faster!

Therefore, the spoiler is so cool as well as those big bumpers appearing from the sides of the car.

The chassis

The chassis of the Traxxas Bandit VXL is so different from the other Traxxas RC cars because of its shape. The structure of the components is in a long shape, which means that the battery is in the middle of the car, and the other parts are all congregated in the rear, which makes it looks cool as a real supercar!

The performance

Despite being from the cheapest RC cars in the Traxxas brand, the Bandit is from the fastest ones. It reaches up to 70 mph which is +115 kph! That’s insane!

What comes behind this huge speed is the Velineon brushless motor. This motor is so powerful and brushless which is a big advantage for the Bandit over the other Traxxas RC cars. It comes also with a TQi 2.4GHz transmitter and receiver.

The Bandit is also a waterproof RC car like the other Traxxas cars, this is great because you’ll have more fun and enjoyment for sure!

Here is a recap of the total components of this little beast:

  • Traxxas Stability Management TSM®
  • TQi 2.4GHz transmitter and receiver
  • Waterproof electronics
  • Traxxas High-Current Connector
  • Digital high-torque waterproof steering servo
  • Precision steel turnbuckles with heavy-duty rod ends
  • Steel transmission gears
  • Battery and charger sold separately

Traxxas Stability Management

This system is what I like the most about Traxxas Cars, the Stability management system is created to keep the car focused on one direction and avoid losing traction. This system is using the front wheels to keep the car in one direction.

If you have the bandit or any other Traxxas RC car that has the stability management system, you’ll see that when you turned it on, hold the car in the air with your hands, and turn it to the sides quickly, the wheels will always turn the opposite side. It’s like drifting in the cars’ real world.

This system is so important for such a car especially a fast one that can reach up to 115 kph!

What I like about the Bandit

There are a lot of things I like about this RC car, and almost everything that I covered in this article is good things that I like about it.

Another that I like also is the wheels. I love how the design and the difference between the front and the rear wheels create this look and aggressiveness especially that this is a 2WD, not a 4×4 which is a little shocking.

But the wheels give you the impression that the acceleration of this car is so powerful that it needs to have special wheels to create that traction that will help the Bandit move fast and quickly!

The other thing I like about the Bandit that we didn’t cover in this article yet is the remote control. It comes with different buttons that give you the options to choose how to drive your car and have more joy.

What I don’t like about the Bandit

Traxxas Bandit VXL Review! Is it the strongest cheapest supercar?

This whole article was talking about how great the Traxxas Bandit was, but, don’t get super excited because this car has also some things that I didn’t like.

The first thing that I didn’t like that much is that the car comes with two versions of the motor: The brushed motor version and the brushless motor version. Now, if you buy the brushed motor version, you’ll get a battery and a charger along with it, on the other hand, if you get the brushless motor version, you won’t get those two pieces which are the battery and the charger. WHY???

This RC car is so insanely fast, which something good, exciting, and great! However, when I saw that the parts of this car especially the bumpers are outside the car instead of being inside, I’m afraid that they won’t be able to handle the huge speed of it especially if the car had a crash!

If you’re an expert, it’s ok to buy the Bandit because you know how aggressive it is and I know well that you can handle it and succeed at control it and protect it as well.

But, if you’re a beginner, I don’t think this will be a good fit for you, what I recommend instead is to look for another Traxxas alternatives that are super cool and cheap as well. I made an article about the best performing cheapest Traxxas RC cars. Check it and see which one is the best for you! Otherwise, I recommend having a Traxxas Rustler due to the similarity of their look and aggressiveness.

The Bandit comes just with the 2WD version instead of the 4WD, I hope they do the 4×4 because it will become of the best Traxxas cars out there!
