I’m so excited to talk to you about the Traxxas X-Maxx 8s RC car. Especially after reviewing all these Traxxas RC cars including the most powerful ones like the Traxxas Maxx, the Rustler, and the Hoss, I fall in love with their big sizes and superpowers. And I guess you did too. I’m sure that you may be bought one or you already have a collection of them in your garage!

This monster has really surprised me on how big it is first, and then, how powerful and reliable.

Traxxas X-Maxx 8s RC car Look
The body
The first thing that surprised me first when I wanted to unbox the X-Maxx is how big it is. Be sure that no matter what your expectations are about the size of this car, you’ll surely be surprised by its size as well as that of the wheels!
If you don’t have an X-Maxx right now and want to have one, let me give you some expectations. If you have a 1/10 scale RC car, this whole RC car that you have is just the size of the wheel of that monster truck! See how big it is?
There are two colors in the Traxxas X-Maxx, a mix of green and black, as well as red and blue. The great thing is that the shocks and lock nuts of every wheel come with the same color that you chose, which makes the look of car sportier and more aggressive.
As expected from this car, it has some clips all over the internal body that hold it down to the chassis. However, it’s clipless from the outside! and this is because there is one big clip that you can use to remove the body.
Well, Traxxas is making everything easier these days! isn’t it?
The chassis
What I love about the chassis of this car is its simplicity and minimalism. Also, It looks sporty from the bottom despite being built from plastic.
The Traxxas has two battery places, one on the right and the other on the left. Traxxas has applied this only on the X-Maxx 8s to increase its speed and performance, which means more fun!
On the other hand, Traxxas has equipped it with front and rear bumpers that are built from hard plastic so they can protect the vehicle from being impacted by the crash!
Another cool part about this X-Maxx is the wheelie bar that is attached to the rear bumper to help the X-Maxx keep the balance and prevent it from flipping back when it goes with full throttle.
Traxxas X-Maxx Performance
Now let’s get serious because the true fun is coming!
The Traxxas X-Maxx is the most powerful Traxxas so far and comes with a new Velineon 1200XL Brushless motor and a VXL-8s speed controller with a 4WD system in cooperation with the TQi 2.4 GHz radio system, this car can reach speeds up to +50 mph. And maybe more with the addition of the two 4-cell 6700mAh iD Lipo batteries that you can check from here. (It doesn’t come with a battery)!
It is also fully waterproof, unlike the other Traxxas cars where you find that just one piece is waterproof while you should worry about the other parts. You won’t worry anymore with the Traxxas X-Maxx!
Therefore, the Traxxas X-Maxx is an RTR (Ready-To-Race) but it doesn’t come with a battery either with a charger. And the perfect charger that Traxxas recommends for this vehicle is the EZ-PEAK live charger.
Traxxas Stability Management
This feature is the coolest feature that I love about Traxxas RC cars. It’s not only available in the Traxxas X-Maxx but also on other cars that we reviewed on our website before like the Maxx. Not only water but also mud, snow, and all types of traffic. All you have to do is to push the throttle button and enjoy the show!
This system makes it a lot easier for drivers to keep the X-Maxx going in one direction without losing control and balance over the truck even in full throttle. The great thing is that you have also the ability to enable and disable this system from your transmitter from 0 to 100.
Self-righting system
With the Traxxas X-Maxx, you don’t need to worry anymore about flipping your car back because of high speed. The great news is that this truck is equipped with a self-righting system that allows you to flip your car back on its wheels just using a button on your transmitter!
You don’t have to run and flip your car back anymore. Well, you’ll save a lot of time and hard work with this system. Isn’t it?
What I don’t like about the Traxxas X-Maxx
This is something I didn’t encounter myself while testing the Traxxas X-Maxx RC car. But I saw a video on Youtube where a guy was reviewing the truck and trying to make it give its best (Knowing that it’s a brand new Traxxas). But after a while, the high pressure of the driving has popped up the tire and needed to be replaced.
Well, this is something that may happen if you treat your Traxxas so badly. But he also has mentioned that he brought new high-quality tires for about $70, which, I think, is a little bit expensive. (Here is something for less)
The price of the car is also high, but you get what you pay for. And honestly, there is a big difference between the Traxxas X-Maxx, and the other Traxxas RC cars including the Maxx despite being the baby X-Maxx! And this brings us to what I like about the Traxxas X-Maxx.
What I like about this monster truck
One of the things I like about this vehicle other than technology and high-quality systems included there is the driving experience!
The driving experience is so amazing and you feel no worries about crashing the car or having a technical problem with the internal parts. You’re at the end driving a reliable monster that doesn’t know where to stop.
The other thing I like about this truck is the full waterproof system, especially that I’m a water-playing fan. I enjoy passing through water ponds whether on my feet or by bike or even with a real car which is really funny. Much less with a monster that leaves water dust behind!
