Traxxas Land Rover TRX4 Defender Review. Is It Worth It?

We all know what is the Land Rover brand, how luxurious and how strong it is off-road. This off-roading experience is adorable for a lot of people and has a lot of fans. Well, Traxxas wants its fans to feel this experience, so it invented the Traxxas Land Rover Defender TRX4!

As any Traxxas or RC cars fan knows, Traxxas has created a lot of RC cars that are specialized in off-roading, like the Traxxas Maxx, Hoss, Stampede, Rustler, Slash, and more… And each one of these cars has its own specialties and characteristics that distinguish it from others, and so the Traxxas Land Rover Defender does.

Let’s discover how strong the Defender is in the next few lines…

The Traxxas Land Rover Defender TRX4 Look

Traxxas Defender

The look of this RC Car is of the best things that amazed me and loved about this Monster. The details in the Defender are so precise and well-done. Literally, Traxxas has made perfectly this Land Rover as if it was the main inventor of this car.

The headlights, the front grill, the Defender logo as well as the Land Rover Logo, the roof cage, the rear boxes that can be used in the trips as well as the spare rear wheel that seems too reliable, and also the strong fenders on each of the four wheels that stop dust and mud from touching the internal parts of the vehicle.

All these parts are from the original brand Land Rover, but the level of precision in the Traxxas construction gives you the impression that Traxxas is the original owner of it!

What I like also about this car are the wheels and how big they are. They are 1.9” Scale Wheels and can handle any type of ground perfectly. The amount of traction is so high even in the hardest climbing grounds.

What I learned from testing the Land Rover Defender is that the body is built not only to cover the chassis and give it a great look but also to protect perfectly the internal parts from the outside dust and mud. This protection goes also on the sides of the car using the fenders. It’s really amazing!

The Performance of the Land Rover

I’m so excited to tell you about the performance and the abilities of this car because it contains a lot of features that you may have never heard of in any other Traxxas RC car!

The motor

The Traxxas Land Rover Defender comes with an XL-5 HV ESC and a powerful massive 21T Titan 550 motor that accepts 6 or 7-cell NiMH or 2 or 3-cell LiPo batteries. Most Traxxas cars come with a 12T Titan, but this is the first RC car on our website that comes with this type of motor.

This motor is located in the front of the vehicle and has reliable power and powerful torque that, aside from the wheels, can climb the toughest grounds and obstacles.

Other important parts

Alongside the motor, the waterproof metal gear servo is so reliable and gives you a powerful steering authority over your Defender to overcome any challenge and obstacles in your way.

On the other hand, the TQi 4-channel Radio system helps you control the vehicle in the easiest possible way through the switch between the high or low range gear as well as the possibility to control the differential lock depending on the terrain.

What I don’t like about the Traxxas TRX4 Defender

Traxxas Defender

There is one thing that I don’t like about the Traxxas Land Rover Defender, this thing comes when I was testing it and I notice that wherever the surface is a little bit edgy to the side, the Defender is more likely to flip on the side. And this is due to its height in comparison to its width which makes it a little bit annoying especially in the absence of the self-righting that is available in other Traxxas cars like the Maxx and the Stampede!

This is the only thing that annoyed me a little bit about the Traxxas TRX4 Defender. However, there are a lot of other things that I loved about this car.

What I like about the Traxxas Defender

Traxxas Defender

A lot of things draw my attention to this car, especially that some of these features are not available on other Traxxas RC cars which makes it exclusive and special.

I love controlling details, and this is exactly what the Defender gives you as a driver, you have the ability to control the modes (Sport, training), you can control also the range from high to low range depending on the road you’re on.

You can also control the Deferential locks. And the best thing about that is when your car gets stuck and you start changing these parameters and suddenly, it gets over the obstacles and you can feel how proud you are of yourself because you were the new car expert!

The other thing I like about the Traxxas Defender is the look of the car. I know I wrote about that before in the first section but, really, the number of details in this car is crazy, and you’ll be stunned if you are a Land Rover fan.

Another thing that I also liked about this car, and you agree with me if you’re the type of person that loves to drive at night and upgrade their RC cars with the best headlights. The Traxxas TRX4 Defender is able to be upgraded and you can add some front headlines as well as on the front, which is more exciting to enjoy and spend the night with your Traxxas Defender.
