Traxxas Jato 3.3 Full Review – Is It Worth It In 2022?

A lot of Traxxas Nitro RC cars come with their electric version. However, Traxxas Jato 3.3 doesn’t come with one which makes it the least known!

When we say Traxxas nitro RC cars, most people think of Revo 3.3 because it is the most popular.

However, what people don’t know about this Traxxas Jato 3.3 is the fact that it is the fastest RC nitro car.

Wait, this is just a small secret from the multiple secrets it has.

Despite all these features, is it still worth buying in 2022?

In this article, we will show you everything you need to know about the Traxxas Jato 3.3 in addition to the answer that will decide whether to buy it or not.

Let’s get started in the next few lines…

The Design

Traxxas Jato 3.3 Body

The first thing you’ll notice when you see the Traxxas Jato 3.3 is how classic the design is. It looks like the Rustler Stadium Truck, right?

Unlike the newly released RC cars like Traxxas Sledge which come with sharp edges, Traxxas Jato 3.3 comes with curvy edges all over the body.

Even the headlights have a classic design. Still, the composition that we’re used to seeing in Traxxas RC cars hasn’t changed.

Also, the size of the body in proportion to the chassis is smaller. This is because the chassis has long suspension arms which makes the RC car so wide.

In addition to that, the body of the Traxxas Jato 3.3 isn’t offered as clipless, there are actually 4 clips on each side.

The Front

Traxxas Jato 3.3 comes with a lot of details not only in the front but also in the whole body!

The front of this RC car starts first with the bumper that covers the body. It is connected to the chassis.

Right after the bumper, there are the headlights and the front grill, they have a great design despite not being real.

The grill itself comes with 4 headlights, two big and two others small.

You can see also the well-designed stickers that make the look more aggressive and badass!

The Middle and The End

Traxxas Jato 3.3 Full Review - Is It Worth It In 2022?

When it comes to the middle, there are no plastic skids to protect the top of the body as we’re used to in other Traxxas RC cars like Sledge and Maxx.

On the left side, you’ll find the exhaust which looks cool, but, I wish it was in another color other than blue.

Right after that, you’ll see the Traxxas Jato 3.3 motor popping since the body is not that high. As a result, Traxxas has created that hole for the motor.

At the end of the body, you’ll notice a change in the composition of the design: There are muscles, YES! this RC car has muscles. If you love muscle cars, then you need definitely to buy this Traxxas Jato 3.3!

And finally, there is the big spoiler, it’s not partly attached to the body like the E-Revo, it is fully attached to the body. It’s a one-piece!

There is no wheelie bar, in the end, however, it is included, you can link it to the receiver installed there.

The Chassis

Traxxas Jato 3.3 - Should You Really Buy It In 2022?

If you think that the chassis of the Traxxas Jato 3.3 is the same as the chassis of the Revo 3.3, let me tell you, you’re wrong!

This RC car is the only one that comes with such a chassis.

Of course, a nitro RC car chassis’s electronics are different than the one on an electric RC car.

Whereas the other parts, they’re the same as any other Traxxas RC car with some additional parts.

The Front

The front of the Traxxas Jato 3.3 starts with the front bumper that we mentioned earlier in the previous section of the body.

After the bumper, there are the shocks, they’re actually GTR shocks, they’re so smooth and powerful because of their thickness.

They’re built-in plastic in addition to the shock tower which is also built-in plastic.

When it comes to the suspension arms, they’re long as mentioned easily, they’re also made from plastic, but they look strong and can handle a lot of pressure.

We can’t mention the suspension system without mentioning the sway bars that the Traxxas Jato 3.3 has both in front the rear, which keeps the RC car balanced when turning around corners.

But of all that, here is the interesting thing, it’s the steering system!

This is something I’ve never seen in any Traxxas Electric RC car before!

Basically, the mission of this system is to make the wheels go and be pointed always to the front even after passing by high bumpers that would point them in another direction. It’s called the Zero Bump Steer steering geometry.

Even if the suspension is moving up and down, the wheels won’t be affected, they will always go to the front.

The Middle And The Rear

As you know, the middle of any nitro RC car is filled with mechanical parts which are the heart that makes this machine move.

The first thing you’d notice is the fuel tank which is hidden under the chassis. It does come with a cool cover or as we call it a fuel tank lid that is offered with an additional handle.

This handle is so long that your hands won’t be touched by the fuel when filling it.

And when you want to close it, it closes by itself! Isn’t that a great idea?

The fuel cap is attached to the motor that is attached to the exhaust pipe that goes out from the side like any Traxxas nitro RC car.

In addition to that, the receiver system is located next to the exhaust pipe, it is protected with a cover, so make sure you notice it!

What about the start system? Where is it located?

The start system is in that big plastic bar on top, so even if you have your body on, you can always start your RC car easily.

Concerning the rear, there are always the shocks that have the same power and handling as the front ones. There is also the receiver’s battery which is the last piece in this car if we assume that the wheelie bar isn’t there.

So, to protect the receiver’s battery, you can either add the included wheelie bar in the rear, or you can always remove it and put it next to the motor. That will add a better weight distribution.

But, if you’re a beginner or you don’t want to go into the headache of doing all this, just add a wheelie bar which is recommended by Traxxas, it won’t take a few seconds to fix it.

There are a lot of small parts inside the Traxxas Jato 3.3 like the servo as well as the gears.

Traxxas Jato 3.3 Performance

As you know, Traxxas Jato 3.3 is a nitro RC car that comes with two-speed automatic transmission as well as a 3.3 racing powerful fuel engine, it’s a 2WD RC car.

It can reach up to 65+ mph and can reach 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds. Have you understood what you just read? 60mph in 4.2 seconds, this is more than quick!

Do you know what cars can do this? Porsches, BMWs, and Jaguars…

You’re not about to buy a normal RC car buddy! This is serious and exciting at the same time!

Yes, Traxxas is warning and telling us that this RC car is not made for everybody, it’s a level 5 RC car, which is an expert driver’s level.

We can say that this engine is the most powerful Traxxas nitro engine up to now.

How To Start the Traxxas Jato 3.3

Traxxas Jato 3.3 Tires

The engine and the power aren’t everything on this RC car, there are a lot of other parts that made it that powerful.

Some of them are the tires. This RC car comes with the Anaconda® Performance Tires, their design allows them to increase their grip and traction on and off-road.

So, wherever you’re driving, you’ll have a lot of fun using these tires.

The Transmitter and The Receiver

Other than the powerful engine and the great tires, the Jato 3.3 is offered also with a bunch of systems that help you the driver have a good experience with your RC car.

Let’s talk first about the TSM system which is Traxxas Stability Management, this system helps you maintain the same direction instead of losing control. How does this work?

In case of a slide, the system turns the wheels automatically in the opposite direction of the slide to help the RC car return to the straight line as well as help you regain control and avoid a crash.

A lot of people love it, but others don’t. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to worry because you have access to control how much it interferes with you.

You can even turn it off and enjoy controlling the rebellious bull in front of you. (This is only for experts).

When it comes to the transmitter, the Traxxas Jato 3.3 is offered with the Advanced TQi 2.4GHz Radio System that comes with a Traxxas Link Wireless Module which is another great system you should definitely discover.

Thanks to this transmitter, you can have access to Traxxas Link which is a system that allows you to check more info about your RC car including the temperature of the motor, the speed as well as a lot of other metrics.

To enable this system, you need to install the Traxxas telemetry device on your transmitter and connect it to your smartphone using Bluetooth after you install the Traxxas App.

This way, you can check a lot of info about your RC car.

No matter how great any RC car is, there will be always some things that some people won’t like even if they’re built perfectly.

For me, I liked everything that comes to performance and handling.

What I wished could be changed a little bit is the design of the body.

In comparison to Traxxas’s new generation of RC cars, they have a better modern design that attracts you.

Classic designs have their fans, still, I hope that in the next version of Jato 3.3, a better design will come out.

Other than that, this RC car is great and perfect.
