The regular Traxxas E-Revo is well-known for its great performance and stability. Well, Traxxas has upgraded it to a new version which is the Traxxas E Revo 2.0!
This update has covered a lot of points including the look, as well as the performance. However, is this update really made the Traxxas E Revo 2.0 better or worse?
Especially since this RC car isn’t cheap. In fact, it is one of the most expensive Traxxas RC cars. It is comparable to Traxxas Maxx and X-Maxx. And the big surprise is: the E-Revo 2.0 maximum speed is more than Traxxas Maxx!

Traxxas E Revo 2.0 Design
Traxxas E Revo 2.0 Body
What’s clearly noticeable about the Traxxas E Revo 2.0 body is the fact that it’s so different than the other Traxxas RC cars. Actually, we can say it’s a bigger similar version of the Traxxas Rustler 4×4 VXL!
However, what’s makes this RC car more special is how big it is.
The body looks so sporty and able to provide the car with the best aerodynamic experience since it’s so low and long. There are no curves found, just simple and smooth, unlike the other trucks.
Also, unlike the other RC cars, the E-Revo 2.0 body remains safe not only because of its internal and external body mounts. But also because it is located between 4 big wheels.
These wheels are so big that they have almost the same height as the body! Isn’t that amazing?
Other than the aerodynamic features and the support that the body has, Traxxas E Revo 2.0 comes with a big rear spoiler.
This spoiler actually is so much useful because it helps increase the downforce for an RC car that its top speed reaches up to +70 mph!
In addition to that, its body comes with different designs. It doesn’t come with real headlights like the Summit, just stickers.
It does come also with a great feature which is the clipless body feature! All you see is just a simple clean body with no black weird points! Perfect in look as well as in practicality!
In conclusion, Traxxas E Revo 2.0 has a perfect body. Well, there is a saying that goes “With a perfect body, comes a perfect chassis” (It is actually my quote). What about the chassis?

The Chassis
Since Traxxas E Revo 2.0 is comparable to the high-end Traxxas RC cars like X-Maxx and Maxx, you may think that they have the same platform. Well, the answer is no!
In fact, this Traxxas RC car has its own chassis. And the only RC car that has the same platform as the E-Revo is Traxxas Summit.
This chassis isn’t different for no reason! There are a lot of dissimilarities. Actually, it comes with some features that are exclusive to the E-Revo and the Summit. We will get into that soon…
The first thing that is different than the other RC cars is the low center of gravity that Traxxas E Revo 2.0 has. Not only that, but it is also so wide!
With this low and wide chassis, Traxxas E Revo 2.0 has more handling than any other Traxxas RC car. This width allows you to jump so high and land without losing balance. It has incredible handling!
However, despite having some great security and support measures like the body mounts, Traxxas E Revo 2.0 chassis still miss some of these measures.
You may notice after removing the body that the front bumper is so small. This may make this car susceptible to being badly broken as a result of a crash.
Still, you don’t need to worry about that because normally, you shouldn’t play with this RC car in small spaces. Otherwise, you can get the 1/16 version which is the smaller model of this 1/10 beast!
The chassis also doesn’t come with a wheelie bar. But, you still can have one from the aftermarket parts at a cheap price. It will help you a lot!

Inside the Chassis
Moving inside the chassis… This is where the surprises begin!
There are a lot of features, one of them is the double battery holders. Traxxas E Revo 2.0 has two battery holders on each side. Each one of them is 3s Lipo capable with a total of 6s Lipo batteries.
This is one of the conditions that this RC car requires in order to hit 70 mph!
On the other hand, Traxxas E Revo 2.0 comes not with norma shocks. It does come with horizontal shocks called “Advanced In-Board Suspension”.
This type of suspension is the reason for its low chassis, and also, it is one of the reasons for the high performance of this RC car!
When it comes to built-in materials, Traxxas E Revo 2.0 doesn’t include aluminum parts like its peers. They’re just plastic built-in. They still handle a lot though!
In conclusion, the chassis of this RC car is amazing. It is home to the most performant parts that give this Traxxas E Revo 2.0 all its power!

Traxxas E Revo 2.0 Performance
Have you ever wondered what is like to have a wild beast with overflowing power, but, it’s so fun to drive and to control?
Well, I’m sure you’ll get the idea once you drive the Traxxas E Revo 2.0. Because this thing is a beast!
Traxxas E Revo 2.0 comes with a brushless motor (As expected). It is actually a Velineon® 2200kV Brushless Motor with a Finned can for better heat dissipation.
In addition to that, Traxxas E Revo 2.0 comes with a VXL-6s™ Waterproof Electronic Speed Control with a cooling fan to cool down this monster.
By adding to these 2 parts 2 batteries of 3s Lipo. You will unlock the +70mph gate! And this is another level of fun!
Of course, what made this car so great are not these 3 parts only. There are a few others though!
The suspension that gives this Traxxas E Revo 2.0 a great handling is actually Oil-filled GTR shocks with height-adjustable threaded aluminum bodies.
And on top of that, they’re horizontal to give the car a lower CG for better performance and handling.
Besides the shocks, Traxxas E Revo 2.0 comes with two steering servos. You can now put all your confidence in the steering to turn around corners at maximum speed!
The wheels are so important as mentioned earlier in the body section. First of all, they protect the body from side shocks.
And second, they have high friction against the ground, making acceleration and driving around corners easier!
All these parts were mechanical parts. Well, there are other parts that you can’t touch, but you can control. In fact, they’re so much helpful when driving any RC car. They’re systems!

Systems
The systems on the Traxxas E Revo 2.0 are all the same as the ones included in its peers like Traxxas Hoss, Maxx as well as X-Maxx!
TSM (Traxxas Stability Management)
These systems include the TSM which is the Traxxas Stability Management System. This system allows your RC car to go in one direction. And this is by burning the wheels automatically in the opposite direction of where the car is slipping.
It’s like the drift in a real car. When your car start sliding, you should turn the wheels to the other side to keep balance.
Well, that’s exactly what the TSM does!
It actually will make your driving experience so much amazing.
There is another great thing about it! It’s the possibility to control how this system interferes with your driving. In fact, you can enable it 100% or disable it completely. It’s your RC car, it’s your choice!
Self-Righting
Traxxas E Revo 2.0 has another system that is also available to its peers. It’s the self-righting system.
If your Traxxas E Revo 2.0 gets flipped on its back due to losing balance or a crash, you don’t need to go all the way to the place where the problem is.
All you have to do is to click a button on your controller. Suddenly, you’ll see that your car starts moving back and forth until it builds momentum to get back on the wheels!
It’s a great system actually! Time and energy saver! And a great way to flex on your friends!
The problem with this system is that it doesn’t work every time. It depends on the body shape of the RC car.
But for Traxxas E Revo 2.0, you don’t need to worry, because, as mentioned earlier, this RC beast is equipped with body mounts.
These mounts are shaped in a way that will help your Traxxas E Revo 2.0 get on its back as fast as possible.
Traxxas Link
This is another great system that a lot of people miss. Traxxas Link helps you get more performance details about your Traxxas E Revo 2.0 through your phone.
In fact, it can show you the temperature on the internal parts to avoid damage to your vehicle, the speed also as well as a lot of other parameters!
To enable this system, all you have to do is to buy this device from Traxxas. It’s called the Traxxas Link. Then, fix it to your remote controller, and connect it with your phone through Bluetooth using the Traxxas app.
Simple right? all you need is your phone, Bluetooth, Traxxas app, Traxxas Link, and your controller. And you’re ready to go!
Believe me, after installing this system, you won’t be able to stop playing with your Traxxas E Revo 2.0!

The Controller
The controller is one of the most important parts that you should take care of. Because, with no controller, you can’t drive your Traxxas E Revo 2.0, which means no fan and that your adventure is over!
Actually, the controller of Traxxas E Revo 2.0 is one of the high-quality controllers. Traxxas E Revo 2.0 peers have the same. It’s the TQi™ 2.4GHz 2-channel transmitter High Output Radio System.
It is equipped with different options like the Self-righting system button, the TSM controlling button as well as the place for installing Traxxas Link.

Traxxas E Revo 2.0 Upgrades
It’s true that Traxxas E Revo 2.0 doesn’t have any common platform with any other popular RC car except for Traxxas Summit.
In the end, this is an expensive RC car, and it’s not as popular as the entry-level RC cars such as Traxxas Slash and Stampede.
However, since it comes mostly with plastic parts, you have a lot of room for improvement! Especially since its parts are not rare.
They’re widely available! Not as much as those of Traxxas Slash. But, it’s not like you will find some difficulties in having these parts.
You can get them easily offline from a Traxxas dealer near you. Or even online on some great websites like Amazon, Amain Hobbies, or RC Planet.
The best parts to have are the aluminum parts. They’re so much reliable and handle so well. You can even fix them if they lose shape as a result of a crash since they don’t break! They’re really worth it.
Upgrading Your RC car doesn’t mean always the replacement of ancient parts. You can add new parts and customize your RC car to be different than the others!
Actually, you can add a wheelie bar since Traxxas E Revo 2.0 doesn’t come with one. You can also add Stainless steel skid plates to protect your chassis from the bottom. These plates can be added to the Maxx as well.

What I Don’t Like About Traxxas E Revo 2.0
Despite being a great RC car, Traxxas E Revo 2.0 remains has some bad parts that I didn’t like that much.
Aluminum Parts
Traxxas E Revo 2.0 is more expensive than Traxxas Maxx. Still, you can get some stock aluminum parts that come with the Maxx.
On the other hand, This beast is mostly built from plastic which is a little bit annoying in an RC car with this price!
But the good part is that you still can upgrade them. Or just keep them if they’re working fine until they break.
Small Front Bumper
For an RC car that goes at a high speed, a small bumper is not a good idea to have! Especially that there are other much cheaper Traxxas RC cars that have a bumper like Traxxas Slash!
Having a bigger bumper might add more weight to the front of the 2-channel transmitter. However, it will provide better protection!
Waterproof
Of course, it would be a waterproof RC car. It should be since it has that price tag!
But, it’s still worth mentioning it. Because it doesn’t matter where you’re driving, whether it’s mud, water, snow, or even sand. Your internal Traxxas E Revo 2.0 parts are fully protected! No more worries about that.

What I Like About This RC car
I see that everything about this RC car is great and well-engineered! However, I would like to highlight some great features that I loved about Traxxas E Revo 2.0!
Special & Different Body
What I love about this RC car is the fact that it has an identity. You can identify Traxxas E Revo 2.0 just from the shape without the need for anything else!
The small and long body makes it so efficient when going through the air. Let alone when it comes to its design. I can say it’s the greatest body design after the Traxxas XO-1 and the Ford GT!
Two Versions
Since Traxxas knew that Traxxas E Revo 2.0 will be a little expensive. They produced another Traxxas E Revo 2.0 with a smaller scale.
In fact, there are two Traxxas E Revo 2.0: the 1/10 scale and the 1/16 scale. They have almost the same performance in different sizes! and of course with different price points!
That will make it easier for people that don’t have the budget for a 1/10 scale Traxxas E Revo 2.0 to have the 1/16 model.
Different Engineering
What’s great about this Traxxas E Revo 2.0, is the fact that Traxxas has put new and special engineering ideas that no Traxxas RC car had the chance to try.
And the great part about that is they succeeded!
Different in-board shocks with a low center of gravity and higher speed. It’s nearly a perfect RC car!
Actually, this reminds me also of Traxxas UDR which has double shocks on each side instead of one with a total of 8 shocks!
